Tuesday's Thought

It was a bit somber around our house and Eric's family, coming out of the weekend.
Eric's dad and step mom had a wonderful dog, Mischief, who passed away yesterday. He was old and sick, but it's not easy to say good bye to a family member, even a dog, as many of us know.

(Gayle with Mischief) Not long after that news, we were notified of the passing of a family friend in Eric's family. It's a passing that came earlier than expected but wasn't something that wasn't expected, in time.

So, this week's thought is about the comfort one must find, in losing those we care about.

From Helen Steiner Rice

When I must leave you
For a while-
Please do not grieve
And shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you
Through the years,
But start out bravely
With a gallant smile;
And for my sake
Live on and do
All things the same,
Feed not your loneliness
On empty days,
But fill each waking hour
In comfort and in cheer
And I in turn will comfort you
And hold you near;
And never, never
Be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you in the sky!
