Friday Night Videos

I had a good week at work....some big changes are coming in our department and I'm kind of relieved. I love my job and enjoy my coworkers, but there has been tension in upper management that was beginning to trickle down. So much so, that when the changes were announced, and I returned to the office from a meeting, there was a noticeable change in the atmosphere. We have yet to see how these changes will truly affect us, though, right?

Here is my collection of videos for this week.

First up is Jon Stewart with Donald Rumsfeld. (I know. I hear it,too: the music of the emperor from Return of the Jedi. Am I right?) I have to say that I think Jon Stewart is so fun to watch and I love this interview:

Richard showed me this one about milk vs. malk vs. melk:

I enjoy playing Angry Birds on my phone and I thought this birthday cake was super cute:

When we were kids, we used to make snow hills in our back yard. And we had a very big back yard....but this is incredible:

I used to love watching Animaniacs...as an adult I find that it's a lot deeper than I remember knowing back when I watched it:

Speaking of the universe, this is a crazy time lapse video of the stars:

My last video for the week is a fun 'trailer' video:

Tuesday's Thought

Refuse to Quit:

Refuse to quit. See yourself achieving your goals and visualize this thing that you want. See it, feel it, believe in it. Make your mental blueprint and begin to build. See setbacks as a lesson to be applied in the move toward success. The difficulties you meet will resolve themselves as you advance. Proceed -- and light will dawn and shine with increasing clearness of your path. Follow through with your plans. There is no greater obstacle in the way of success in life than trusting for something to turn up instead of going to work and turning up something for yourself.

That said, I really wanted to post a video regarding the Wisconsin Unions. I hope they don't give up because they represent so many more than just those who pay their dues.

Chillin' with Chance

Eric and I took Chance to the boat show last weekend. He was too much fun and was so well behaved.

I told him that I had two rules:
1. He had to stay in his stroller and I'd leave the belt off
2. If he wanted to go into a boat, he just had to tell us

He was so funny. At every boat, he pointed and asked, "in?" So, in we went.

Afterwards we took him to Pirate O's. It's one of our favorite places to go to find some really unique cooking items.

Here are my fun pictures.
Chance found the horn in every single boat! It was pretty funny because you could always spot where we were:
Chance throwing a University of Utah football....that's right!
Eric and Chance explore a large boat - the kind of boat you'd see in Lake Powell:

Friday Night Videos

This is the video I found this week. Honestly, I didn't take the time to look, so it's the one and only for now.

Tuesday's Thought on Thursday

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan, 'Press on,' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

Love is in The Air

Happy Valentine's Day!!

I had fun preparing for the 'holiday' that is Valentine's Day.

I made Red Velvet Cupcakes with the most divine cream cheese frosting EVER! I made them to give to mine and Eric's coworkers! My coworkers loved them! I loved them!
I also made heart healthy Apple Muffins for my one coworker who is on a heart healthy diet due to heart disease. They were surprisingly good!! We all loved these ones, too.
This morning I woke up and shuffled into the living room to find this, lurking in the shadows: Yeah, I was WIDE AWAKE after that! Eric brought me my favorite roses. Thanks, Eric!
Tonight I will make him dinner using heart shaped noodles.

Friday Night Videos

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. I have never been a huge fan of the day. Not for all the bitter things that some people say: "it's singles awareness day." That's such a bitter thing to say.

I don't like it because it's over rated! Forced love that comes across as artificial. Diamonds, roses, romance.

That said, I enjoy making valentines for my friends and coworkers, so I will make some through the weekend and share them on Monday.

Here are my video finds for the week.

Tuesday's Thought

AMBITION:
What one great thing would you aspire to do if you knew you could not fail? Why is it that many of us are content with so little? Why not reach out for something big! Many times when we set out to be, have, or do something, we allow external forces to question our ability. More often, it is our own self-limiting beliefs. We all aspire to achieve our dreams but we are often afraid and begin to question our ability to accomplish what may seem impossible. You must begin immediately to create and reinforce your belief in action. Eliminate doubt, despair, and other limitations from your mind. Every high aspiration is an intimation of possible achievement. You are given the power to dream and you are also given the power to make those dreams come true.
One day, quite by accident, a farmer found an eagle’s egg lying on the ground. Not knowing it was an eagle’s egg, he carried it to his chicken coop and placed it beside some eggs in a hen’s nest. The hen, not knowing the difference, covered the egg with her wings and protected it through its incubation period. Soon, the eagle hatched among a brood of domestic chickens. As it grew up it mimicked the actions of the chickens. It leaned to cluck, scratch, and bob when it walked. It flapped its wings to fly only a few feet in the air. It ate seeds and insects and had no reason to believe it was not a chicken. One day the little eagle looked up in the sky and saw the most majestic creature it had ever seen soaring in wide circles. “What is that?” the little eagle asked in awe. “That,” said a nearby chicken, “is an eagle, the greatest of all birds.” “That’s what I want to be!” exclaimed the eagle. “You’re crazy,” exclaimed the domestic hen. “You can’t be an eagle. You’re a chicken.” So, the little eagle hung its head and began scratching the ground. “I guess you’re right.”
For its whole life the eagle continued living among the chickens, not knowing what kind of potential it had, not knowing it was born to soar. It never tried to fly higher than a few feet or eat different food. He was convinced that anything else was impossible. And when the eagle died, it died a chicken.
Use your ambition to rise above mediocrity. Dream what you dare to dream, do what you dare to do, and be what you dare to be. You were born to soar higher and higher toward great achievement. Don’t allow ‘chicken thinking’ to hold you back from pursuing your dreams. You can never soar among the eagles if you continue scratching and thinking like a chicken. –Alexander Lockhart.
